A lot of effort!

Oh man, this song ROXORS!! hee, I wonder why ^^.

Alright so let me tell the listeners just what happened with this piece.

First there was a rumble in the sky, and MilkMan_Dan offered to carry my babies, I refused on the grounds that Chronomaut would kill us both, and so we settled for a collab project.

Our BIGGEST issue, was the fact niether myself or Dan knew how to read or write notes (save some basic bass notes), and Dan loves his piano, and uses no program such as Fruity Studio's and I can't play worth anything and only use programs...

... how does one proceed with given situations?

Well we started off with a melody, that MilkMan gave me, and then I went and listened to it for about 4 hours, to determine what exactly would work with this piece.

A solo was born.

It was crap, and so another solo was born.

Now the last step, the crucial duet... how could we fuse both of us together without using a program on bothsides? Very very delicate and careful planning. I created a basic foundation, and MilkMan filled in all the gaps.

Then he fused in some great voiceacting, a good amount of editing, and BAM! Here it is ^^

Enjoy it, it took a lot of effort.

MilkMan-Dan responds:

Ahhh Maestro... guess they didn't like my voice... not sexy enough I think. In our next Collab we'll remove that. I must say this was alot of fun... I've never been so giddy for a piece of music. I want everyone to know it has been a great honor working with MaestroSorrow... he is truly an amazing artist. Hopefully we'll inspire some future collabs between other great artists. :).

Yay!

IS THAT FROM CHIP AND DALE?!

I played that game as a kid ALL the god damned time!

I loved it!

The electric sound was a bit too loud, but just remembering the game was realy sweet.

Thanks for the childhood memory ^^.

4/5 cuz of the really loud saw, keep them coming.

MarioMusicMaker3 responds:

OMFG! SOMBODY GUESED!!!! i didnt think n e 1 would get this! good job! every body else, plz review the song now! this guy is right. that was frickikn fast1

Good stuff.

I've listened to this for at least an hour, to see if it got tedious, or boring.

I can safely say it didn't, and as of such it can be used anywhere.

The choirs were pretty good, i'm still trying to find some good samples and programs for choirs. The guitar succesfully set the mood, so congrats on that.

I would have liked to hear a more complex drum beat, but this one suffices nicely.

4/5 from me zakk, keep them coming.

Very diverse

This was a rather interesting piece.

The strongest point to this song is how well the effects blend together, and the synths flow together flawlessly, though you've used a fair number of them, they don't compete or clash against each other.

A rare feat.

It was quite trance like, I rather enjoyed swimming in its existence

5/5 from me zakk, keep them coming.

Impressive.

The piano melody here! So good! It grabbed my attention right away! I also like that fading in and out saw you got going on there, gives it an air of tensity.

The bass should be slightly louder in my opinion, but then again i'm using quite bass light earphones so it doesn't pick it up that well, I could be very wrong.

The transition where you went from piano to guitar was a bit choppy, I would suggest you added a large cymbol crash right when the guitar kicks in to provide the listeners the knowledge that you have changed something.

The same can be said when it goes from guitar to Piano.

I would also like to hear this piece with a more complex drum beat, this one is fine, don't get me wrong, however I think it would make the piece more eneregetic to have a snare in there, especially when the guitar kicks in.

4/5 from me Zakk, keep them coming.

Quite moving.

I think you should definatly use this for another game, it sounds pretty damn neat.

I kind of wonder what kind of game you were planning to use this for? It sounds like an action/RPG game... am I correct?

I really like the pad use here, the washing sensation was what gave this piece some real solid flavour to sink my teeth into.

I can hear this piece have a violin playing with the pad, but that could just be my overactive classical composer spirit talking.

Its pretty damn fine the way it is. The bass was a little too quiet, I could feel it (my earphones vibrated with the bass), and I could slightly make it out, but for sure, it should be a bit louder, I feel that would make give it a more solid feel.

The ending was a nice way of ending it.

4/5 this time John, because it got a bit repetitive, but still good.

Keep them coming.

JohnFloyd responds:

Excellent points, MS. I was a little concerned that the bass might be too low of a frequency... it sounds good on my equipment, and would probably rock with a subwoofer, but I should add a little high frequency to it for those without a lot of bass response. And the repetition is spot-on, when I specifically write menu music I sort of think that I should be encouraging players to play instead of just sit there... but I should probably stop doing that. :)

How pleasant!

what a pleasent change from Insane Asylum X_x, heh its strange to have such opposite spectrums in the same place.

I don't know if you created this, because it sounds so god damn convincing, I listened to it like 10 times to try and listen if there were any repeated comments in the background, to indicate a loop, and I was able to find nothing.

I don't know what to say about it, heh, its EXACTLY what I would hear at a crowded restaurant, and thats why I was confused if it was a recording X_x.

I'm going to go on my instinct that you created it, and so i'm giving you a 5/5 because it was so god damn convincing!

JohnFloyd responds:

Thanks for the comments, MS! All my audio is 100% original. Although, the dialogue here is me reading excerpts from a number of movie scripts, and I did not write the movies. I worked really, really hard to get this sounding as slick as it does.

Very raw!

good question John, I guess you answered it XD!

The first thing that caught my attention on this piece, was its brutal beginning, so raw, so violent, and captivating.

Definatly useful in a "massacre" version of SI, where when you blow up a ship, like millions of bodies and corpses fly out at you spraying your windshield with blood and the such...

such strange imagery you induce in my head >_>.

I like how you used that repeating note, sounds like a saw, whatever it is, it gives the song that constant feel of anger, of uncontrollable rage.

I don't think there should be anything else added on top of this piece, nor would it be appropriate to change anything.

5/5 from me John, keep them coming ^^.

Neat!

ah the intro to this piece was nice and short, quickly gets into the action, this was a bonus.

The guitar notes are pretty neat and catchy.

The pad you used to accompany the guitar at the beginning should be reconsidered, it works fine by itself, but when its playing with the guitar, it seems a bit off.

You've got a lot of diversity in this piece, I can realy hear the effort in it, so I must commend you on that.

Heh, I just noticed the scratch sound effects used in the background, I suppose that means you do use Fruity Studio's (as I think thats where I heard it from).

Neat song Hermit, this gets 5/5 from me, because of its intense diversity. Keep them coming.

Hermit-Canal responds:

thank you very much.
listening to it again...The pads
dont really fit in with the guitar do they?

Good stuff!

hmm, this piece was quite different, I rather enjoyed it, on to the review!

The progression to the song is good, however its a bit long, I would like to hear it with a shortened intro.

The bells do add their own flavour, and when you make them do their solo, it takes on a different light, gives new meaning, and this was something in the song I really liked.

The guitar like instrument you introduced and had fading out after the bells however I didn't quite enjoy, it seemed a bit too raw and loud, I would recommend adding maybe a flanger effect (if your using Fruity Studio's) to give it a strange effect, I think you may like it.

I see you mixed up the bells melody after the guitar, however I would look over those notes, they seem a bit random and sour.

4/5 from me Hermit, keep them coming.

Hermit-Canal responds:

Yes, I know.
Im quite proud of the "New light" the bells cast.
Thanks for the input

It's been one hell of a ride guys, but it's time for me to leave. I will still be looking at my inbox, if you want me to look at songs, I will check back every once in a while. Take care Newgrounds! full_metal_slashemist@hotmail.com AIM: MaestroSorrow
