Dark intro transition.

usable for dark intro's, full of tense energy.

(I can't review intro's and such so i'll just write out what they are, so people will know by quickly pressing on the review slot ;) )

(Sorry bout the sixes I just can't give 10/10 for such short loops, though it does serve its purpose)

DJdarkangel responds:

Hey there ;)

He no prob. i dont think it even deserves a six couse it's just a bassline and a reved crash :)

I just thought i take a brake from making solid tracks (I'm having some inspiaration problems)

Grilled to perfection.

It is now indeed, final Devestation! I ADORE the switch between strings and brass, its like a dance of spirits going back and forth.

In its final form, I see this story from the song.

A man looks at the destruction of his home, his town, his people, fire consuming everything he once held sacred. He looks at it with insanity digging deep into his soul, rage bellowing from his heart.

I think this because the notes are somewhat fast, whilst keeping a sad tone.

I don't think snares are required in this piece, it works just fine the way it is ^^.

I think we can close the books on this one Harddrive, a fine piece, sealed and done to perfection =D.

5/5 + voodoo curse from me.

BTW, I use Fruity Studio's, with the VST Edirol Orchestral, AIM or add me to MSN I will tell you a lot of things to help ^^.

Keep them coming.

Harddrive100 responds:

Thank you for the high rating....and I'm not sure what to say about the voodoo curse...lol. I tried Fruity Loops 6 once....it was confusing. lol. I don't know what the other thing is. I will probably add you later.

Thank you again for all your suggestions. I wouldn't have written this if if wasn't for you.

Nice additions!

Ah, you introduce some snares in here as well! That you've done nicely.

I would make the brass and strings louder Harddrive, they are there, but not really loud enough to enjoy to its maximum.

There were some snares going on near the beginning, however I didn't hear them again afterwards, I feel you should have indeed kept them going, even a simple drum roll would have given the very core of the song a drastic change.

You surprised me completely by adding Brass, I was debating with myself to see if they worked in here, and I think it works fairly well, so congratulations on that.

Harddrive, if you would allow me, I would like to take the original recursion file, and add my own strings, and show you what I feel would have made this piece a bit better.

Again though, I am only the suggester, whilst you are the creator, so its entirely up to you ^^.

Another 5/5 from me Harddrive, I will have to begin reviewing you a little harsher Harddrive, you have proven you have skill ^^, keep them coming.

Harddrive100 responds:

Thank you again for the 5/5! I'm fine with you taking the file and adding to it, as long as I'm credited in some way when you upload it. lol. I may improve this one, but I probably won't. I love Devastation, but this one....not quite as much.

Thanks again for the high rating.

I am quite impressed!

I am quite pleased with this piece now Harddrive, you've added a lot of flavour to it, and the imagery I get are intensified by a great deal!

at 0:51 when the brass starts again, that is my favorite section (brass wise), especially at 1:02 when it plays that neat little quick tune, I was not expecting that, it worked rather well.

at 0:22 I enjoyed the brass melody falling down, as if the world around me begun to crumble.

at 1:40 when the strings are doing that little dance, again it caught me off gaurd, heh, I love being caught off gaurd Harddrive, it makes the piece more alive for me!

You have used the instruments in a way that allow for the story to be told efficiently. The brass give off an angry air while still remaining sad, whilst the strings are the ones giving the air of unbearable suffering.

Some suggestions.

Now that you have (so damn quickly I might add) pretty much mastered using more then one instrument, my next challenge to you, is overlapping both strings AND the brass! I feel adding that one final step, would make this a truly great piece.

I don't mean to self promote, but take a listen to my _=[AfterMath]=_ piece, I feel that may help you understand what I mean.

Here's my 5/5 with a great smile Harddrive, keep them coming ^^.

Harddrive100 responds:

Wow! Thank you very much for the 5/5. I listened to AfterMath, and I really liked it. I wrote a review for it. I'm assuming that you mean for me to have both strings and brass playing in the main theme in addition to the supporting ones. I will get started on that right away! I value your opinion, and now that I know you are amazing, I value it even more! lol.

I don't know what I'll call the next Devastation, though...lol. I'll figure it out.

quite interesting melody!

You make excellent use of deep low notes, and high pitched notes.

I don't really appreciate panning in music, as I feel that it is a distracting element, for some sound effects sure, but I highly suggest stay away from panning.

The rapid rate, the melody was lovely, I loved it, it does have that trial challenge like air to it, so I feel the name was appropriate ^^.

Still great stuff!

4/5 from me again Harddrive100, keep them coming!
(I'm holding off the 5/5's till I hear you expand your skills in more instrment usage ;) )

Harddrive100 responds:

Thanks again for your high rating. I don't know what you mean by panning, though. It's probably just me being ignorant! I'm writing something with more instruments now, so I look forward to your 5/5. :)

Love those drums!

in these past few songs DJdarkangel, I notice you have a lot more control and power over the drums, and how to utilize them.

That guitar you put in, just BLEW me away, because I was not expecting it, it was a great addition. The melody was intoxicating, and had a flavour of trance, I just wanted to sit and listen to it for a long time.

Where do you get all these samples?! You have inspired me greatly to try a DnB beat myself!

again, another 5/5 from me. Heh, I will have to start reviewing you more harshly DJdarkangel, you have definatly proven you have the skill, keep them coming!

DJdarkangel responds:

thank you ^.^

That is what i am trying to do.

Reacently i have been using alot of pre-made loops.(couse i'm a lazy ass)

But in these last few songs i juts... sorta got back to my roots and decided loops wont cut it :) the music is mine and i must make it you know? :)

Oh belive me MANY diffrent places, i buy them, i get them from friends, i download them... Sshhh *makes shifty eyes* .... and so on :)

And you should defently try some DnB
you get alot of sync practice and you learn to 'play' with beats and so on :)

Well thank you :) i'm glad i proved that i am worth the listen :)

Thank you again for the support :)

Fight the power!

amen to that DJdarkangel!

Paragon is good and all that, but frankly I begin to get slightly pissed at how he seems to be the only one making DnB beats.

I am not that well versed in DnB, so I will give you my overal feel for the song, without suggesting anything.

The engine sounds you used were quite a neat twist to the song, however when I hear them, I think industrial music.

That saw that goes lowre and lower and lower, and then shoots up, that I really liked! I can hear a lot of effort in this song DJdarkangel, and i'm always happy to see somebody put so much effort into their pieces.

I hope one day you get recognized for the skill you have.

5/5 from me again, keep them coming ^^!

DJdarkangel responds:

Yeah :) i to admire his work but... he is being over commercialized (it's a word...What???...) and all the other ppl that make solid DnB (and there are alot here) get left behind, becouse all ppl know is paragon.

Anywayz

I myself love to make two or more genres come together, i'm a big fan of the idea, almost all of my songs have got something or other taken from a diffrent genre, couse if it's straigh foreword it's good... but it gets old.

Yeah this is acctualy one of my more massive profects, but it need serious work, as i said before mostly on EQ.

AMEN!!! :) i hope so too, 10x!!! *-* ^-^

I will :)
10x again

Jeebus, the rapid drums!

heh, many thanks DJdarkangel for the mention and tribute ^^.

Lets get onto the review!

Heh, I can see what you mean by a lot of funk and even more Jungle! The percussional work here is simply amazing, as any good DnB and jungle tune would!

The pace of which those drums go, god, I love it. Also did you use more then one drum for the really fast hand beating drum thing (yes I know I suck with descriptions), it seems to have a lot of tone, meaning volume levels and the sounds of the drums seem to change, indicating a very realistic beat, which is of course, nothing but a plus ^^.

There was a section where you jumped back into the song with some strings, heh, as a classical composer I loved that transition ^^.

The song loops flawlessly, I wasn't aware it had started again until after say... third time.

The spiccato plucking strings really add a neat flavour.

I don't want to sound self promotional or anything, but when you use that voie to say "MaestroSorrow", all reverbed and delayed up, it sounds damn neat... I will have to remmeber this technique for my own music ^^.

I have nothing to suggest in changing this song, I found it very entertaining ^^, 5/5 and a great thanks from me DJdarkangel, keep them coming!

DJdarkangel responds:

^-^
No problem :) this piece was inspired by you :)

The perc is mostly bongos, witch are EXTREMELY hard to EQ belive me :)
If you play them non EQ-ed on a woffer they will cover all the other sounds couse they are really deep-bass sounding :)

The drums :) well, all i can say is that only the Snare drums are around 15 so you get eh idea :) i wanted realism in all it's form :)
And i am glad i achived it :)

Yep :) strings were placed becouse i wanted to remind anyone that listens to it about the tittle of the song :)

Not at all ^.^ i'm glad you liked the way it turned out :) i was going to use a real vocal but seeing as my mic is busted i decided on Computer generated :)

10x again for the review and i'm glad you liked it :)
It's dedicated to you :)

Tried nothing, you nailed this sucker!

*waits impatiently!*

oh, new song from MilkMan!!! Must... BE... PATIENT... must... NOT DESTROY... HEADPHONES >_<

Now nuff with that, ONTO THE REVIEW MY GOOD SIR!

It has a very sad, a very deeply moving core, and when the kick drum begins... uh... kicking ^^, it begins to become more powerful, more sinister and filled with strength!

You have done well with the progression, and those brass instruments were well done, especially since the flute complies so well with it, very nice!

The shaker is a very neat touch... i've never thought of adding a shaker in my songs... I wonder why. Heh, good thing you showed me this.

And then BAM BAM! Pick up time!

I love it when it begins to pick up, like INSANITY! The song completely sheds its depressed core, and drapes itself with a cloak of rage, of unrelenting fury!

And it ends so flawlessly, that even with NG, I didn't notice that it started again, so for catching me off gaurd, top marks!

I have been in quite a rut lately, not been able to make anything, but this song has inspired me, and for that I thank you Dan, I desperatlely needed this lift.

a 5/5 and great smile from me Dan, keep them coming ^^.

MilkMan-Dan responds:

You crazy bastard you. You have a collab that you promised to finish :). I"VE BEEN WAITING SO PATIENTLY!... is this how you treat you brother in charms?... :(... hehe... thanx for the review but u gotta get on msn and I can't wait to see that thing finished. I intend to make a song for the faction as well.

Talk to me bud.
Dan

Good stuff.

a neat melody going on here again, quite pleased with it.

I can hear a very powerful violin for this piece Harddrive, my greatest suggestion for you, is to not only use the piano, but some strings as well, why? Because the strings such as a viola/violin/fiddle, are the pianos best friend, the two sing together very well.

Having long extended notes playing in the background, will provide some background to fall back on, and a platform of stability for the piano notes itself, not to mention only furthar the piano's power.

Otherwise, pretty cool.

4/5 this time Harddrive ^^, keep them coming.

Harddrive100 responds:

Thanks again for your kind words. Once again, I value your oppinion and will take them into consideration.

It's been one hell of a ride guys, but it's time for me to leave. I will still be looking at my inbox, if you want me to look at songs, I will check back every once in a while. Take care Newgrounds! full_metal_slashemist@hotmail.com AIM: MaestroSorrow
