Awesome

my first thought that came to mind, you have some pretty good orchestrated sounds. Samples? If this isn't a sample, and actual melody made by you, thats pretty damn impressive.

It sounds pretty sad, and like you said, truly fits the title Rainy Days.

I love sad music, you can see by my name. I make a lot of sad stuff to, please do check them out sometime ^^.

Onto this song.

I felt it was a tad repetitive. Have you considered a piano? A flute? Those two would make for a pretty good instrument to illustrate Rainy Days.

There is some notes clashing in this loop.

The whole hip-hop percussional beat added a really neat favour.

5/5 from me. Don't put music in Misc, they never get listend to there, instead put a song like this in classical.

Keep them coming ^^.

LfunkeyA responds:

Thanks for the review. I played this myself, just two differntly pitched "strings". Yeah, I need some piano and stuff. The beat was repetitive too, I admit, but I never find the patience to make things complex, and I should. I'll check your stuff out.

Impressive

hey, its been a while ^^.

Lets begin with that intro, strange. That slide I usually don't like, but it sounded pretty neat here.

The song just washes over my ears again and again, aggrisvely, yet gentle enough to just guide you through it.

The volume levels are a tad unshaky, gets from real quiet to real loud, but its not that big an issue.

I really enjoyed it IamMark.
A lot of 0 voters seemed to have found your page, i'm fiven this song, and a whole lot others, to try and balance some of it out.

Excellent stuff man, keep them coming.

impressive

as you said later on it got pretty neat, but I don't think you should have people wait that long before anything of significance happens you know what I mean?

For sure, cut up that intro, make it shorter.

I didn't hear any pads, do consider one or two, for some background noise.

Interesting stuff Edski, keep them coming man. 4/5 from me.

Edski responds:

thanks for your review, ill remember it to use pads xD

Impressive

it was extremely strange... yet in my own opinion I did enjoy its extremely crude sounds, ripping apart everything.

It worked, but at the same time it didn't. A difficult feeling to explain.

None-the-less I did enjoy listening to it.

4/5 from me STU_PIDASO, keep them coming man.

STU-PIDASO responds:

you know, it might just be the crude sounds that i liked.

i was just fooling around this is what happened, i couldn't puy my finger on it, now you have.

O_O

oh MY GOD! This one is even more freaky.

Please, PLEASE send me an email and tell me how you did these. I must learn as well.

You have captured my utter respect.

easily another 5/5 from me Maindrian, you've done something truly freaky here...

friggen spooky.

Holy crap... so friggen effective. I've downloaded this to listen to during the night.

You must send me an email and explain how you did these effects, they are truly fascinating. This piece could EASILY have been used in Silent Hill (a game my friends FORCED me to finish with them >_>)

The song was breaking into some kind of melody, I would have truly enjoyed to hear it, good stuff man.

5/5 from me, keep them coming.

Maindrian responds:

Why thank you for the positive feedback.

The effects on both of these horror cues are simply clever cutting and editing really. For instance, the pulsing hum you hear is two twanged guitar string, slowed right down, playing one fret off of eachother. The near melody is just a guitar line with the attack taken off, so on, so forth. If you fancy trying something like this, it'd be a good idea try reading up on the BBC Radiophonic Workshop.

Oh, and you will be hearing a fuller version of the melody. It's already featured in another music cue I've done, so I'm going to do a full theme song of it. You can drop me a mail if you want to know more. Cheers guy!

good stuff

interesting use of those harps. Fast and slow, good melodic structure. Not very original, or diverse, but effective in its own means.

I would have liked to hear another instrument, maybe some strings?

Impressive none the less, keep them coming.

billy-hawkins-faty responds:

thanx dude

Inspiring

Extremely powerful. You have single handed changed my view of soundfonts, and i'm going soundfont hunting RIGHT now. Listening to your song as a constant remind to why i'm doing it.

Extremely professional, crisp, powerful, and inspiring.

I didn't really get that much of an "escape" feel, more of a glorified freedom, standing on the highest mountain kind of thing you know.

I have little to say for this song smartpoetic. You are what I eventually want to become.

5/5 from me easily, keep them coming.

SuperTonic64 responds:

Wow...thank you MaestroSorrow.

I really wanted to bring out a feeling of chaos, despair, and hurry, but I guess my interpretation of the song isn't what everyone is interpreting it as. :D (Make sence?)

MaestroSorrow, it's been the same with me. You, WinterWind, Egden, XGM, and everyone has always inspired me to do better. Maestro, I will be lucky to be half the awesome composer you are. You are one of my music mentors, and I will always look up to you and your work. :)

Thanks for the review! ^_^ I'm glad I changed one mind about soundfonts. :D

Good luck and God bless Dan.

I promised myself I wouldn't cry.

T-T.

If this will be your last song Dan, then this will be my greatest review, it will one of the four tributes I have prepared for you.

Lets begin with the first 10 seconds.

Very catchy, those first ten seconds, with those subtle strings, with the occasional piano note, just making slight appeareances. A weak and terrified note, thrown into a fray it doesn't want to belong to, yet can find nowhere else where it can do better.

20 - 38

The piano becomes more active here. It's wading in deeper waters, testing the darkness that it swims in gingerly, placing its hands and gently sweeping the unpredictable surface. Looking on, not knowing what, but shakily ready for it.

48 - 1:28

I felt this was a very powerful moment Dan. It's as if the piano gasps for air here. Especially at 1:08. I see it floating gently with the atmosphere. It's become used to things around it, it has grown roots, finds a loving thought buried deep in its mind.

This was home.

1:28 - 2:10
I can see the piano's spirit rising. It's great body swaying. For so long it had been simply swimming, and standing on its own was a big step, but a step it would take. Great streams of water flow off its body as he gazes at the stars, suddenly aware, how small its kingdom is.

2:10 - 3:06
It yearns for something more, a desire to be at peace again. Ever since it stood, it regrets, yet cherishes it. Its takes a very shaky step towards land. Its first step fails it, and it crashes to its knees. Its angry, yet confused. Standing again, it takes more steps, softly at first, then with more confidence. Looking beyond the land, he looks at the dark sky. The stars staring at it, and it at them.

3:06 - 3:27
Its running through the fields, completely left the world it knew well behind it. Exhilarated beyond words. Its feet begin to glide on the ground, gently rising and rising, until at last it is souring. Great wings sprout from his back, and merge with his arms.

3:27 - 4:12 (end)
And now it is free... it is souring the skies, the clouds below it. The sun rises slowly and breathes life into the cold earth and clouds. It shines brilliantly into its eyes, and blinds it with wonder and amazement. Never had it seen something so great, so powerful. It flies to it, and thats all it sees now.

The sun. Flying towards the ultimate freedom.

The strongest part of this song, is the last minute and a half of this song. I feel at this point the instruments are singing in such a powerful union that it seems like a natural part of life to be together. So natural.

Good strings and timpini work, they have an awesome supportive role, and if I am not mistaken that reverb effect you have on that piano works wonders in itself.

Your piano skills have gotten far better by no mistake. I sometimes find it extremely difficult to believe you know as much music theory as me, which is nearly nothing. You have become my greatest source of inspiration, and will remain so for a long time

So many stories in this piece Dan, and there is no room to write them. Epic moment after epic moment.

Because I was foolish enough not to assist you in this piece, and because I have a great respect for you Dan, I will give you my farewell tribute.

Here's to my good friend Dan, may his adventures take him to better places, his days filled with wonder and enlightenment. May he find the ultimate freedom we all so sourly wish to seek and find.

Above all this though, I ask you Dan to never give up music. Without any musical theory, without any knowledge of the art, you have learned to bend it to your will, to create worlds, stories, and feelings. You have learned to capture the moment, and to make them anew.

You have simply learned.

5/5 from me Dan, as if anything else is remotely possible.

Just so you know, this by NO means you can escape me ;). I will take this song Dan with your permission, and I would like to add my own little mix to it. So in some way you have something to remember me by, a great song.

Wherever your path takes you, good luck.

MilkMan-Dan responds:

Oh... Maestro.

Can you all see why I love this guy to death. You shall be a great writer some day my friend.

I sat down. Put on my headphones. And listened to the music, while reading this very review along with it. It made for such an awsome visual experience. I think I should review, your review.

It's only too bad you haven't been around lately... I wanted you to have a part in this song so much. We've made two great collabs together. You've inspired me and challenged me. But above all that... you've been the greatest of friends. An unending humour... and music that truly rocks this world.

Yoy, Winterwind, DavidOrr (Mr.Maestro), Edgen and a few other rising stars (if I've reviewed your work... it means I think ur either... amazing... or stole someone elses work) will take the classical section by storm.

Take people under your wing sir. Teach them all you have taught me. I am ever so greatful my friend.

I drink to you.

Awesome

The filtered beginning was awesome. I knew the song was going to bust open at any given moment, and though it wasn't as sudden as I thought it would be, the gradual opening was actually a neat effect I don't hear nearly enough in Techno pieces.

The bass instruments going on in the background later down the road, was an interesting blend. And you succesfully fuse quite a good number of synths to make a ever diverse feel.

In fact I can safely say thats one of your strongest points in this song. Pretty damn diverse.

The percussional works is simple, yet very effective.

Not to mention, the song loops pretty effectively.

I'd write more franklind23, but i'm going to fall unconcious now, so i'll take my leave. 5/5 from me franklind23, keep em coming man ^^.

It's been one hell of a ride guys, but it's time for me to leave. I will still be looking at my inbox, if you want me to look at songs, I will check back every once in a while. Take care Newgrounds! full_metal_slashemist@hotmail.com AIM: MaestroSorrow
